Wednesday

The age-old conundrum has been solved - if you have people in the household who have differing views as to whether the TP should be "under" or "over" - have one of each!

Tuesday

Centre-screen, on the awning, is a white cat that was very interested in stalking birds that are not in the picture because they were keeping well out of the harm's way.

Monday

Here's the bargain of the day - a clock with calendar, alarm, thermometer and pen holder for 97 cents - 95 cents post-rounding (marked down from $6.97).

Sunday

Yum Cha at the local Chinese restaurant - a place where I hadn't really expected to see flag-flying flans - but there they were. Not sure if it was special for the Australian Day weekend (like the Kangaroo Pie on offer at Le Pain Quotidien) or "the usual".

Saturday

Sticker sighted on the rear window of a pink older model VW which also sported the word "Fukenbroken" above the window.

Friday

Seen at the local discount store - a Child Defecating Seat. It's actually shaped like a duck (right colour) with a bar/handle through it's head to give the child something to hold on to.

Thursday

Strange bedfellows on the shelves of the discount DVD stall - "Chicken Soup for the Soul" and the "Ted Bundy" story.

Wednesday

Say hi to Mel who managed to make herself totally at home (including using me as a litter tray) … but cute!

Monday

Happy Feet (TM) are an easy way to rid your body of nasty toxins - or so the packaging suggests. I took the leap on Sunday night - not sure if it has worked - or maybe it requires multiple applications.

Sunday

A visitor - welcome as long as it stays on the outside of the vehicle and its whereabouts are known at all times!

Saturday

The internet is everywhere ... even at the local shopping centre where for $3.50 an hour you can join the others at a machine and surf. The crowd today is all ages. Can't help wonder if they come here to use the FAST and EASY service, or whether they are "parked" there as the rest of the family does shopping.

Friday

The Post Cafe in Marrickville regularly showcases artwork which is sometimes for sale. This is the first lot for the New Year.

Thursday

Homer is on the mend and is due to have his sutures out on Sunday.

Tuesday

It took a little getting used to but this is one off the glasses we had at our lunch at Sydney's Swissotel today (farewell Jackie). Even though I had one of them, it wasn't until it was placed on a flat surface that the "feature" became obvious. Could this be a new vogue in the making … glassware as talking point?

Monday

And this could be why they call it the Communications Age. Although it could be less conspicuous if disguised as a palm tree as some mobile phone towers are, it would still be fairly obvious!

Sunday

Still fruit (close up).

Saturday

Who would have thought that the Easter Rabbit would make its appearance in January. Word is that hot cross buns and other Easter paraphernalia were in shops the week after New Year's. Seems like it's just getting earlier and earlier each year.

Friday

Here's Homer, back from the vet's after the operation to remove cancerous growths from his nose. He is currently banned from going outside for a few days and has taken up residence in the cupboard under the kitchen sink. He seems well enough in himself, and I'm sure the wet Darth Vader breathing is only disconcerting to us - although I did notice that our other cat was giving Homer wide berth, or hissing at him.

Thursday

Possible fashion faux pas - "socks and clocks" or "clogs and sogs". (And to think they might have been yellow!)

Wednesday, January 9, 2008

Wednesday

Remote view … and who says we have too many electronic devices?

Tuesday, January 8, 2008

Tuesday

Yum - or would that be - mmm … breakfast. The eggs were excellent especially as I'd remembered to cut the toast into "soldiers" so it was easier to dip into the yolk. (Benz on York, Sydney)

Saturday

I was lucky enough to receive a Xmas gift from a friend's chickens this year. Thanks girls (and E&M).

Friday

Not often you see a penny-farthing bicycle since they were more in vogue a century ago - but you never know what you'll see in Marrickville.
